Hamptons Designs
Think Long Island, Florida. Think coastal vibes and soft pastel colour tones like blues, Greens and Greys. Incorporate natural elements such as weatherboards and stone. This style is the ultimate in sophisticated casual coastal living. White washed walls are adorned by natural light. It is not contrived in any way and depletes the fuss of classic. It is paired back with simple lines on lines and often features white on white.

Australia’s beach-loving culture fosters a non-fuss lifestyle and relaxed vibes, this is translated from the moment you set eyes on the external facade of a home. This ambiance seamlessly transitions into the interior, where soft linen sofas, chairs, and furnishings maintain the laid-back atmosphere. The climate further enhances this vibe, allowing for extended hours of alfresco entertaining outdoors.
Designing with Natural Elements
Firstly, let’s begin with the starting point of the linear weatherboards. With a distinctive palette of white, there are layers of detail, including clean lines with architraves and popping mouldings, that add to its relaxed feel. Now, it’s time to incorporate natural materials and subtle features while keeping with the coastal vibes. Beautiful natural stone pavers are often used to complement the Hamptons vibe. Not only do they enhance the design, but they are also amazingly beautiful underfoot on a nice summer’s day. Additionally, adding a subtle stone feature wall can tie everything together. Finally, finish off the look with a splash of colored walls. Light blues, greys, or soft greens are always popular, and white on white is hot right now! (Consider including a Foster Irregular fireplace and Antique USA Whitewalls for added charm.)

Cohesive Design Elements
Then continue the vibe throughout the inside of the home with the same elements. You can play around with textures but try to keep the same materials in order to “tie” everything in together. For example, if you opt to use Foster Irregular walling on your front façade it will be a good idea to use it on your fireplace for instance and by doing this you have tied in the two areas and your entire design looks planned and thought through.
Kitchen Elegance
The kitchen, as always in a Hamptons design is a standout. Keep it simple and just as the other rooms, it is good practice to tie in materials here as well. For example, a stunning Carrara benchtop top with Carrara subway tiles flowing through to the same Carrara used throughout the bathroom vanities. Add a splash of brass fittings and we are on our way to living in the Hampton Vibes!
Coastal Furnishing Delights
Now comes the fun part with furnishings. Here you add your take on either the Coastal or Nautical Hamptons feel. Coastal using lighter blues and greys opposed to Nautical which leans more towards the navy and white palette. Incorporating rattan or soft timbers adds to the vibe. Just remember to try to create a coastal feel and most important to create an ambience which makes you happy.
